The art of Jamie Vesta is gender role-reversal, and this future magazine cover (The Economist July 8th-14th 2041) is certainly gender role-reversal. But it is also female-supremacist: proclaiming the female dawn and the age of women, the male and female couple hold hands and in the distance on the horizon the glowing sun shines with the female symbol. A feminized male (wearing a dress) watches his female partner while she looks forward to the rising female sun. Lesbian love is right in the the center of this illustration. The women are both in little black dresses (have they been out on the town?) with the fabric pushed up over their waists. They’re in love, they’re kissing and embracing. And they’re each being licked from behind by a naked male below. The men are submissively accepting their roles below the women and their lesbian relationship. Artist: Razornick.

This is a clothed-female naked-male (CFNM) role-reversal version of Édouard Manet’s 1863 painting “Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe” (The Luncheon on the Grass) where it is instead the fully clothed women who are engaged in intelligent and enlightened conversation while the naked man has been disregarded and dismissed as a nude object for visual enjoyment. Role-reversal art is subversive, provocative, or innovative: a generally accepted understanding of an older well-known artwork is questioned; or a different and often controversial interpretation of the subject is suggested; or a modernized perspective in the newer artwork complements and expands the theme of the original artwork. So does this new interpretation of Manet’s painting change how the original artwork is viewed? Is the subject of the new artwork more controversial than the original ever was? Is this new version a more modern perspective on the same subject matter? It does suggest an important female-dominant perspective and transformation of an earlier patriarchal culture. This is a women’s club, far into a future of female supremacy. Entertainment for women on this particular night involves a lot of male submission and female pleasure. Topless men (dressed innocently in angel’s wings) are serving drinks to the women. On the stage, a show is being performed: a man is tied up, naked, exposed on his knees, and a woman wearing a strapon is fucking him from behind. Another woman (possibly from the audience) has grabbed his exposed cock and is playing with it as she smiles and enjoys her power over the man. The details of the male performer’s humiliation are being recorded on camera and displayed on large screens above the stage. In the background, a woman has stopped a male server and she is simply enjoying touching his bare chest. And in the foreground, a woman is seated, her head thrown back in ecstasy, or amusement, or both as a male server is down on his knees between her legs giving pussy worship—the stage show temporarily ignored and forgotten. A naked man fully exposed on a platform while clothed women observe, inspect, and appreciate. This display of a naked male in an art museum isn’t necessarily about the worship of the male body but could represent the humiliation or even condemnation of all men. Presenting men to be objectified by women is a useful amusement: maybe it’s a cathartic release from the patriarchal past or maybe it’s a reminder of the future power of women in a female supremacist society. It is always about letting women be women: let women enjoy men in any way they want in a society devoted to the power of women. Details and coloring are superb. The scene is fascinating: A women watches as her girlfriend humiliates her feminized husband. This dominant wife has a belt in her hand as she commands her husband out on full display in his frilly pink panties and bra. Both women seem to be enjoying the spectacle. In a female future (and a future of both female superiority and liberated female sexuality) this is a small business catering to women only, where women might walk in seeking pussy worship, female pleasure, and male submission. Without any stigma or shame, even in front of other clients, these women openly receive all the pleasure and worship they deserve, unafraid to spread their legs for the hired pussy-boys providing their service in this cunnilingus salon. Husband swapping: a role-reversal from wife swapping with a theme of femdom. The husband’s names are written on pieces of paper, and their names are chosen at random from a bowl. The husbands wait anxiously: which one of the dominant wives will they each be going home with, and what kind of humiliation and torture will they have inflicted on them? The dominant wives, with their whips and crops, look on with quiet amusement: which one of these submissive husbands will they take home to play with, to tease, and to train as their slave? The World War II “We Can Do It!” (or “Rosie the Riveter”) poster re-imagined as a modern feminist symbol: the same determined focus and self-confidence is depicted in this newer drawing. But in this case, Rosie is wearing a dominatrix-style corset, flaunting a tattoo of the “Woman Power” symbol of radical feminism. And below her waist, she is wearing a big, black strap-on dildo. She is a dominant woman ready to sexually and powerfully take control. This is female empowerment and female domination in a single image.
